It's been very positive, my therapist has been very understanding and helpful with the navigation through my belief systems.
Helped me get through a very tough time in my life, and to also better myself by finding and resolving my own problems.
The WeCare team is professional and responsive. It was very easy for me to set up therapy sessions online, while living away from Sri Lanka. They listened to my requests and provided me with sessions that matched my availability. My sessions with Venuri were well structured and helped me process my emotions and gain new perspectives on a difficult personal situation.
After years of struggling alone, I finally found healing. The perfect blend of professional expertise and cultural understanding changed everything.

WeCare’s mission is to democratize mental healthcare in Sri Lanka by providing accessible, high-quality, and affordable online therapy. Our platform is specifically designed for the Sri Lankan community worldwide, including expats, students, and those living locally. We are committed to breaking the stigma associated with mental health by offering a private and comfortable path to wellness, ensuring that professional support is just a click away, regardless of your geographic location.
Yes. Extensive research has consistently shown that online therapy, also known as telehealth or telepsychology, can be just as effective as in-person sessions for treating a wide range of common conditions, including anxiety, depression, and stress. Key therapeutic modalities, such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), translate seamlessly to the online format. The convenience and comfort of your own home can often enhance the therapeutic experience and make long-term commitment easier.
Standard individual therapy sessions are 45 minutes long. Couples and Family Therapy sessions may be slightly longer, depending on the therapist's approach. The overall treatment length is highly personalized. Some clients find resolution in a few Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT) sessions, while others benefit from ongoing long-term support. Your therapist will discuss a treatment plan and realistic goals with you during the initial sessions.
Your journey begins with us finding your ideal match. After you submit your requirements, our support team will use a personalized matching service to pair you with a suitable licensed therapist based on your needs, specialties requested (e.g., trauma, anxiety, relationship issues), preferred languages, and current availability. The first session, known as the intake session, is where you'll establish rapport, review confidentiality, discuss your challenges, and set collaborative, measurable goals for your treatment. This also serves as your opportunity to determine if the therapist's style is the right fit for your therapeutic journey.
Absolutely. The effectiveness of therapy heavily relies on the therapeutic alliance (the relationship between you and your therapist). If you feel the connection is not a good fit, we encourage you to contact our administrative team immediately. We will respect your decision and facilitate a seamless, confidential transfer to a new therapist on our platform, ensuring there is no disruption to your path toward wellness.
For the best experience, we recommend a few preparations: 1. Ensure a stable, high-speed internet connection. 2. Test your microphone and camera beforehand. 3. Find a private, quiet space where you will not be interrupted for the duration of the session. 4. Close unnecessary applications on your computer/phone to save bandwidth. 5. Have a notebook or water nearby if needed. Being prepared helps maximize the time dedicated to your well-being.
Our highly qualified team utilizes a variety of evidence-based, modern therapeutic techniques tailored to your specific needs. These include: Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), which focuses on changing thought patterns; Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), for managing intense emotions and improving relationships; Trauma-Informed Care, for addressing past emotional wounds; and specialized counseling for Couples and Family Dynamics. We ensure you receive the most relevant and effective care for your concerns.
Yes, we prioritize cultural and linguistic accessibility. Our platform features therapists who are fluent in both Sinhala and English, and we are working with Tamil speaking therapists to provide services in Tamil. We understand that discussing deep emotional challenges is often best done in your mother tongue. When browsing therapist profiles, you can easily filter by language of consultation to ensure you receive culturally sensitive and comfortable care.
IMPORTANT: WeCare is NOT a crisis center and cannot provide immediate emergency support. Our services are designed for scheduled, ongoing therapeutic work. If you are experiencing a life-threatening mental health emergency, feeling suicidal, or require immediate intervention, you must immediately contact local emergency services or a dedicated crisis hotline in Sri Lanka. Please refer to national resources for immediate support.
We utilize a , encrypted online meeting platform that complies with international data privacy standards to protect your communications. All video sessions are conducted using end-to-end encryption, meaning only you and your therapist can access the conversation. We do not store any personal or medical information, ensuring your anonymity and privacy are rigorously maintained.
Confidentiality is a cornerstone of our practice, but there are rare, legally and ethically mandated exceptions known as the 'Duty to Warn.' These exceptions include: 1. Immediate risk of serious harm or suicide to yourself. 2. Immediate risk of serious harm to another identifiable person. 3. Abuse or neglect of a child, elderly person, or disabled person. In such cases, your therapist is obligated to take action to ensure safety, which may involve contacting emergency services or relevant authorities.
Absolutely. All payment processing is handled through reputable, secured third-party payment gateways that are PCI DSS compliant (or similar international standards). WeCare does not store your full credit card or bank details on our servers, ensuring your financial information is protected with the highest level of security protocols.
Currently, WeCare typically operates on a self-pay model to keep our prices low and accessible without the administrative overhead of insurance. However, some international clients with certain health plans may be eligible for reimbursement for services with an out-of-network provider. We recommend you contact your specific insurance provider or your employer's EAP administrator directly to inquire about their coverage for online mental health services.
We offer flexible payment solutions for our clients. We accept all major Credit and Debit Cards (Visa/MasterCard). For clients within Sri Lanka, we also support various local payment gateways and bank transfers, which will be specified during the booking process, making the payment as convenient as possible.
No, the price remains consistent for every session within that tier. Individual, couple and family therapy sessions have one fixed rate.
We require a minimum of 24 hours' notice for any cancellation or rescheduling requests. This policy ensures that our therapists can manage their time effectively and offer the slot to another client who may be in need. Sessions cancelled with less than 24 hours' notice or missed without communication (a 'No-Show') may be subject to a full session fee.
If you are late, your session will still end at the originally scheduled time. This is necessary to ensure fairness and prevent delays for the next client. For example, if your session is from 3:00 PM to 3:50 PM and you log in at 3:15 PM, the session will still conclude at 3:50 PM. No refunds or extensions are provided for time lost due to late arrival.
We understand technical issues can happen. If the therapist's connection is interrupted, the time will be made up. If your connection fails, please try to reconnect immediately. If the issue cannot be resolved quickly, the therapist will attempt to reach you via the secondary contact method provided during booking (e.g., phone call) to determine how to proceed. Policies for compensation or rescheduling due to technical failures are handled on a case-by-case basis, generally prioritizing the client’s welfare.
Our counselors and psychologists provide talk therapy and behavioral interventions. They do not prescribe medication. If your therapist determines that medication or a full psychiatric evaluation may be beneficial for your care, they can provide a professional referral to a psychiatrist or other appropriate medical specialist in your area (for local clients) or provide guidance on finding one internationally.
WeCare is not for emergencies. If you are in need of emergency help, please call 119 or National Mental Health Helpline immediately.
